UPDATE

It’s been 7 months since my last update, so here goes. While many of my symptoms are status quo, I’ve experienced improvements as well. I continue to see my acupuncturist at least once every two weeks. The treatment is extremely helpful for relieving stress and accompanying pain. My burning tongue issue remains, but it seems to be lessening. (Stress definitely is a trigger which exacerbates the pain.) I’ve successfully re-introduced blackberries and blueberries to my diet — what a treat! I now eat approximately 6-8 of each almost every day with oat bran. I also have reintroduced quinoa into my diet without any problems. Also, I’m now eating raw cashews (Trader Joe’s) and Lay’s plain potato chips. (A girl needs something crunchy to snack on and both seem to be okay with my system as long as I don’t over indulge.) The big addition to my diet: coffee! Since Christmas, I’ve been back on the caffeine daily with no overt negative symptoms. It’s my one vice and I doubt I will ever let it go after going through this restrictive diet for so long. I’m still reacting badly to kefir and sugar. (I ate a couple of small Dove dark chocolates and suffered for it. Thankfully, the amount of sugar in blackberries and blueberries is so low it’s not bothering me.) I’m still exercising, primarily walking (2-3 miles at least 2-3 times a week) with the occasional bike ride. My body still aches but it seems to recover quicker than it did in the past. It’s just nice to get out and exercise. I’m no longer taking enzymes, just standard vitamins. I’m not sure if I ever truly had candida, but the restrictive diet (modified for my personal issues)certainly helped with my food intolerances. The input and advice from those on the Forum (especially Able and Raster) was a significant source of help and encouragement when I first started a year ago. So, thank you! Good luck everyone…stay positive.
