A couple of things:
– Amalgam fillings, also known as “silver” fillings are (suprise, suprise lol) silver in color if that helps you remember.
– 5-7 amalgam fillings are more than enough to develop a serious mercury toxicity.
– I’m not sure how clean your water is in Cairo, but in America you’d definitely be wise not to drink tap water often. Heavy metals, fluoride, and even traces of antibiotics have been found. Beyond this, I haven’t done much research in this area so it’s hard to say how significant the exposure is.
– For treating your thyroid I would look into iodine and/or a desiccated thyroid supplement like Armour. I won’t say too much here because I haven’t done any supplementation for my thyroid yet and I don’t have any personal experience to draw from.
Now let me tell you a little about my story. About 5 years ago I started to get into lifting weights, bodybuilding, and healthy eating. I’m 24 now so I was 19 at the time this started. I considered myself to be relatively healthy at this time. During a span of about 3 years starting from age 19 I began eating a lot of fish for protein purposes. I ate a lot of salmon and tuna. I was more active and eating healthier than at any other point in my life. During this span of time I never received antibiotics or took birth control (I’m a guy, lol) which are typical candida precursors. Nevertheless, I began to experience severe cramping, bloating and acne that had me questioning what the hell was wrong with me. As far as I knew I was doing everything possible to be healthy. What I didn’t realize was that I had been slowly poisoning myself with mercury with every meal of salmon/tuna that I ate. The process was so slow and insidious that I hadn’t realized what was going on, but looking back in retrospect it becomes painfully obvious.
The big thing about mercury and other heavy metals is that they are immune suppressants. You may have become poisoned at an earlier age, but still have been relatively healthy because you hadn’t yet been hit with anything else. Then you start taking birth control, antibiotics, go through a stressful time, and then all of a sudden the symptoms hit you. The question you have to ask yourself is why do most people who take antibiotics (and most people do at some time or another) not develop a candida overgrowth? The answer to that question, I would say, is because they have a properly functioning immune system.
I spoke with my mom and she did have silver fillings (I would even say more than 10) during the time she was pregnant with me, but I’ve never had any. Any fillings I can remember were not silver, they were like a dull grey, like cement. I also ate a good amount of tuna when I was younger, so I’m sure that has an effect.
I’ve been taking iodine and selenium for over a month now so hopefully that helps. I will also ask my naturopath/acupuncturist about other things I can do for the thyroid and adrenal glands.
Thanks for the video. I’ll also watch the rest in the methylation series tonight. So you did the diet, as well as adrenal supplements? How are you feeling now? What was your timeline like? Did you do all the same things that Raster/Able suggest in the protocol? I’m just wondering about your experience, since it seems Candida is not the only issue I have going on.
I’ve been on the strict diet for roughly 2 years now and in many ways I am a lot better. In other ways, I am worse. Certain symptoms don’t come up as long as I stick to the diet and take my supplements, symptoms like: ringing in ears, join pain, fibromyalgia, fatigue (I’m still very fatigued, but this used to be much worse; ACE has helped tremendously here) and acne (still have acne, but this has improved) . I’m positive there are others, but can’t think of any right now. My main problems that bother me the most right now are fatigue and brain fog. What I would give to have these two symptoms go away. One positive on this front is that I recently have begun to chelate with DMPS (for mercury detox) and I feel much more energized and clear-minded while chelating.
It is my current view that chelation (mercury detox) and focus on methylation will be what heals me in the end. Of course, diet is important, don’t neglect that, but you should also realize that if you are dedicated to getting your health back to 100% or as close to that as possible, you will have to address more than that. This journey is a long one. Chelation typically takes 1-5 years to “cure” people and methylation support operates along a similar timeline. If you want to get a better idea of what’s going on check out the mercury thread I made (I will bump it soon) and read through impossible’s post. I agree very much with the theory he presents.
Also, sorry for taking so long to respond. Life can get in the way, but I apologize and I hope you’ll let me know how the adrenal support is going in the case that you’ve started supplementing with ACE.
