I have been reading more about the stomach acids and entzymes while wondering what could be the cause of them getting so low. One source says that if you do not eat meat the production of those enzymes and acids lowers over time. That kind of makes sense to me; I was a vegetarian for 21 years before. Started eating meat and chicken a year ago because my iron and vit B levels were so low. However I am not having much success getting my levels up; probably because of low leves of acids and enzymnes and the following insufficient absorption?
I am not eating red meat at the moment because I am following the forum diet. But I am considering adding bone broths to my diet as I’ve read a lot about their benefits in healing leaky gut.
The GAPS protocol for example recommends bone broths: http://gapsdiet.com/Home_Page.html
I am not going to follow their protocol but will introduce the bone broths to my candida diet and see how it goes.
