What do people here think about the possible relationship between heavy metal poisoning (mercury, lead etc) and candida?
I just listened to a really interesting podcast on the topic here http://probioticforums.com/blog1.php/clinical-rounds-connection-between-heavy.
The speaker argues that there is a connection between candida, metal poisoning and emotional trauma…
It is absolutely possible. CRC is the result of an immune problem. A deficient cell mediated immunity caused but toxic loads, viruses, heavy metals, and the ability of candida to suppress cell-mediated immunity cause this syndrome.
According to Dr. Truss, healthy people have times where the immune system is low or extremely loaded. The immune system has limited capacity to deal with several stressors at the same time. Think about a diet loaded with sugar and refined carbohydrates, viruses, enviromental toxins, heavy metals, emotional stress, lack of rest, etc
It is when a combination of this factors, or one of them that may induce a chronic Th2 response that candida has the opportunity to wins terrain.
There will be a moment where you immune system will be extremely loaded and toward to a humoral response that candida can goes totally out of control and invade the tissues.
One time in the intestinal tract (in its fungal form) it is able to cause more immune suppression by itself.
As you see, the most important part against a war against candida is to unload the immune system. This sometimes resolve eliminating candida, but sometimes, other causes of immune suppression have to be addressed. Until the immune system won’t be able to stop the fungal growing, there will be overgrowth and infection.
Of course, any heavy metal load can suppress cell-mediated immunity and push the immune system out of balance.
I hope this help you.
