Of course I can’t verify this one way or the other never having actually studied kefir in a microscope or personally analyzed it. But just like any other commercially processed food product, I’m sure that if you can make it yourself the quality would be increased. However, this is not saying that all commercially processed kefir is completely without merit, but purchasing the grains and making the kefir yourself would certainly have more health benefits.
