Hello Keya and Nekotamo,
Let me tell you, doing the protocol while living in this part of the world is quite a challenge. I did it without most of the stuff we need and it was tough.
I did not find Molybdenum (or anyone that heard about it) in any stores here in Bosnia, but I had a friend who lives in California purchase it for me and send it in a package. I got it without trouble, perhaps because it was just a private package, or perhaps we are not hoping to get into EU so they just don’t care 🙂 It just took a while (survived some serious die-off while waiting for it, sigh).
As for the probiotics, I know, this is a big issue arround here. I found Biorella that has 20 billion CFU per capsule and five strains, and some pharmacies carry Darmflora Plus by Dr. Wolz (Germany) which has 48 billion CFU per capsule and 8 strains.
Keya, are you in Zagreb perhaps? I only ask because my coworkers often travel there and I could send some of these probiotics to you, which are much better than what you have right now. Biorella costs 10KM for 10 capsules, Darmflora costs I think around 50KM for 40 capsules (which is actually cheaper because you get double the CFU in one pill and three more strains). If any of you are willing to travel to Sarajevo, I will help you find these and take them with you. Come to ski on Jahorina or Bjelašnica 🙂 Just kidding, I know I was for nothing last year I was so ill.
I did my treatment with only probiotics listed above, but I had daily home made kefir and I do think this made the difference. I suggest both of you try that. I was lucky that my mom had some frozen kefir grains and when I said I need it for the treatment, she pulled them out and I had kefir within a week.
Now, I am 99% symptom free, but still I am continuing the treatment until I get 100%. My ex came from California in December and I asked him to bring me some high quality Mega Flora probiotic with DDS-1 strain. They are only 20 billion per capsule, but they have 14 strains and most importantly DDS1 which I did not have up til now. So recovery is possible, it’s just very slow and this treatment is not geared so much on antifungals and killing the yeast, but more in rebuilding the flora and fighting the beast that way. This is tough when you don’t have good probiotic at hand. Kefir helps. It does not have many CFU’s, but it has, they say, around 50 different strains. So I used that plus lots of prebiotic food (onion family, buckwheat, oat bran etc.). Eat lots of sour cabbage (raw, not sarma – stuffed sour cabbage – or podvarak – baked sauerkraut – ha-ha). Test greek yoghurt (čvrsti jogurt) as I could not handle it at the begining, but could later and do well on it today. Dukat and Megle make good one here in Bosnia. The cover pops off when left outside so it means the probiotics are still alive. If you can find home made somewhere in the country, that should be the real stuff. Here they scared me because there is some disease among local farmers (bruceloza) and you know that controls are not that great here so I have up on that thought and purchase it at Konzum.
I suffered last year translating everything to local products and language, so if you guys need any help, please feel free to contact me. I’ve made some mistakes until I figured out what’s what, plus some things got lost in translation. For example, I ate “kelj” like crazy thinking it’s kale, but it turns out its savoy cabbage. Not so bad, but I was better off eating collard greens (raštika) because nutritionally is more similar to kale.
Best of luck to you guys (or girls) and let me know if I can help with anything! I am not on the forum that much (these days I find little more time as we are not going anywhere, have some cold running trough our house) as usually I am a little selfish and on the go with girls all the time, what can I say, I really enjoy life I got back! PM me for a private mail address and we can communicate that way if you need help.
Thank you so much for replying and willing to help! I will contact you via PM regarding probiotics if I need any help. I would gladly come to Sarajevo, but, as you may know, it’s complicated to travel while on this diet 🙂
I also eat home-made kefir every day, and saurekraut is also on my food list 🙂 plus I’m eating “sarma” as well – I put the meat in the sauerkraut, but without any rice. I’m somehow afraid to eat buckwheat (heljda?) and oat bran (zob?) as I have a feeling they are “cereals”, but I will try them if they are proven to be ok. I’m 2 moths on the diet now and not feeling well at all, my simptoms are not getting any better, but I’m not giving up 🙂 I’m trying to find what I am doing wrong, I think that maybe it’s because I’m not taking drugs that are powerful enough, and not as many drugs as recommended on this forum, as I don’t have so much money for it all 🙂 also, I’m eating more meat than recommended (once a day I have meat or fish for lunch), as I don’t have strength to make it through the day only on veggies and eggs, but overall I think I follow the guidelines pretty strictly, so I don’t understand why didn’t the symptoms at least gotten a little bit weaker, and not even worse, as they did…
