The likely reason you are losing weight is because your body is taxing itself for energy to fight candida, parasites, etc. It can do this by eating up the muscles, tissues, ligaments, bones, hair, etc in the body and is quite taxing. However, as you get better, you will need less and less energy to heal the body and eventually you can start to gain the weight back.
I went from 157 to 147 to 137 and now I probably weigh 155 again…and I haven’t really changed my diet very much throughout my treatment.
I also noticed that you can gain weight if you eat 3-4 course meals and eat 3 meals per day. Snacking can also help you gain weight if you snack more between meals.
There are a few food items that are life-savers though. One is plenty of protein such as eggs, meat, yogurt, kefir, etc. Another is to get a great source of prebiotics in the diet such as oat bran, buckwheat, teff, etc. The other is making the coconut bread and its alterations (I have a teff/coconut/buckwheat/almond meal bread that is great for weight gain). Teff has great weight gain properties and highly recommend it. The pumpkin pie muffin bread recipe is great for weight gain as well as coconut milk (45% saturated fat). Coconut oil is also a great weight gain food and I use it with the bread as a butter replacement.
Chewing your food more can also give you more energy from the food you eat…if you chew 30+ times per bite, your body will be able to absorb the particles much much better. In other words, it creates a larger surface area for absorbtion.
If you supply your body with plenty of vitamins and minerals, then it also won’t use these resources as much from the body either.
