So many different problems can cause heartburn that there’s really no way of knowing for certain at this point exactly what the problem is. For example, an overgrowth of Helicobacter pylori in your stomach can cause heartburn. For this, taking licorice root 3 times daily usually helps. Licorice root destroys the bacteria as well as reducing any gastric inflammation present.
If the lower esophageal sphincter muscle closes improperly, this can also cause heartburn.
And of course, heartburn can also stem from a lack of enough stomach acid causing poor digestion of foods, and this is probably most often the case during a Candida infestation.
For general heartburn, I would start taking a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with each meal. Every day add one more teaspoon to the daily amount until you reach 1 tablespoon taken with each meal. This is providing you’re not already taking apple cider vinegar in which case you could start with the amount you’re now taking.
