I am going to state, for clarity’s sake, that I think that Floggi may be worried that resistant strains of these diseases will occur if people are not vaccinated and become infected with them. Therefore, it would be possible for vaccinated children to become ill because there would be a resistant strain of the virus. The one instance I can think of this is antibiotic resistant tuberculosis in AIDS patients. We are now seeing a resistant strain of TB in the U.S. that is infecting healthy people.
I am not sure if this necessarily translates to vaccinations but a virus can adapt and change very easily and I believe it is possible. I don’t know if it is probable, but it could happen. So therefore, you could have a healthy child that was vaccinated that could still be infected with a resistant strain of say, polio. Just a thought.
