I’m wondering how well buckwheat would be digested, since it’s high in protein. I don’t like the idea of brans for a lot of reasons. Brown rice has a bad reputation for fermentation, and seems to be similar. If the starch isn’t taken up in the small intestine, then it’s taken to the bowels for candida and the bugs, and you’ll probably remain in ketosis.
Maybe everyone else eating these things plus yoghurt is already getting well over 50g of carbs? Some people seem to have symptoms of mucous deficiency though. I haven’t given it any thought at all until reading about the issues I mentioned. Nobody ever seems to mention the idea of not getting enough sugar. Maybe I should start setting a target and include more swede and parsnips.
