Even yogurt and probiotics aren’t recommended for sibo so I’m so confused now. I’ll have to clean my damn diet up again and be miserable. Yes what drug works good. Nystatin? Xifiran which is for intestinal overgrowth of bacteria
Have you been taken the HBT test to determine you have SIBO? Bascially, there’s two treatments for sibo – one is going on an elemental diet with a product like Vivonex as the only thing you swallow for about 15 days to starve off the bacterial overgrowth, typically the bad bacteria. Bascially, Vivonex is predigested and gets almost fully absorbed in the upper small intestine, thus starving the overgrowth in the lower small intestine leading up to the colon.
The other method is with antibiotics. Not sure how doc’s determine which method to use on a patient: perhaps depending on where the discomfort is within the GI. Since my issue started in the lower right quadrant at the connection point between the small intestine and the colon, I assume that’s why they put me on the elemental diet. I felt a little better during that 15 day period but, once going back to a regular diet troubles reappeared.
With dysbiosys: whose to say you can’t have sibo and candida … once things get out of balance who know what goes on. However, an elemental diet isn’t going to cure a candida overgrowth.
Many blessings along your healing journey.
