I started Phase 1 on Saturday. Saturday was fine (except I didn’t drink near enough water), Sunday I felt great, yesterday I felt ok until the end of the day, when I started to feel a little weak and light headed. This morning I woke up dizzy and I pretty much feel like, well, death. I could barely make it to the toilet and back without feeling like I was about to black out.
A little bit about myself… I’m hypoglycemic. If my blood sugar drops below a certain point, I become tired, brain foggy, cranky, and irrationally angry. (sorry, dear husband… ;)). If I don’t get some sort of food in my system quickly, I start feeling weak and dizzy, like I’m going to pass out. I do eventually pass out. I do a pretty good job most of the time managing my sugar levels by eating whole foods – certain veggies, fruits (especially apples and berries), lean protein, various nuts and seeds. I tend to stick to Low GI foods, as they help maintain levels rather than spike them and I snack between meals to keep myself going. (Snacks like half an apple and some nuts).
Any advice during Phase 1?
I’m about to throw in the towel of this ridiculous all vegetable portion and skip right to phase 2.
I’ve got a theory that it’s on the third day that all diets/detoxes run into trouble. The first couple of days are usually fine.
I got through the vegetable phase by eating a lot of eggs/avocados and supplementing my diet with chia seeds and hemp protein. Even so it was a struggle – I remember googling non starchy vegetables to see which had the highest carbohydrate contain and making loads of thick broccoli soup. If I had to do it again I would lay down a stock of thick veggie soups before I even started, one thing you don’t realise is that you even feel too weak/apathetic to cook!
