Thanks for posting that article, it was interesting how FM CFS and IBS tie together based on SIBO.
Something else to be aware of is that SIFO exists too, often caused by candida.
This could explain why “it always seems to come back within a few weeks to a few months”
In that study 63% of people on PPI’s or with dysmotility had either SIBO/SIFO, or a mix between the two.
This study is good too look for TUL1376(you will need to click the magnifying glass in the bottom right corner, the text is small)
Basically around 63% of people with digestive issues had some overgrowth, 19% had SIFO 19% had mixed SIBO/SIFO and 25% had SIBO.
What interesting is that EVERYONE who had SIFO grew candida from a culture.
I think it’s something we should all look into more, as most of us seem to have issues with eating certain foods, or digestion altogether. And the fact that 3/5 people with digestion trouble had SIBO/SIFO, those are pretty high odds.
I’m still trying to come up with ways to get rid of SIFO and SIBO together, since I’m not sure how effective peppermint oil is against yeast/fungus. I think one cause of this that hasn’t really been mentioned is gallbladder/liver problems. Bile released by the GB/Liver is supposed to keep the small intestine sterile from what I’ve read. So maybe there is some problem there.
