It took about 10-14 days for mine to drastically decrease. I don’t think that they will ever disappear completely. I’m on day 71 now and I only feel super triggered when I’m around sugary things, like if someone is eating a treat next to me. Otherwise, I don’t think about it too much…well, maybe if I’m feeling down, but I’ve survived two other addictions and just try to treat sugar the same way. Cravings suck, then they pass.
Cocoa could be causing them, potentially, because it has caffeine and that jacks your adrenals. Any food you eat for some kind of instant gratification reaction is probably something you shouldn’t be eating, at least that’s the conclusion I’ve come to. If something doesn’t have a medicinal purpose, at this point, why bother? At least for me, all I care about right now, literally, is healing. I’m so, so, so tired of being sick with this, you know? So I don’t want to put my recovery in jeopardy over a craving.
