How is the forums strict diet much different? I honestly feel like I’ll be on it for the rest of my life if I want to stay healthy. I feel good, I’ve killed Candida, and detoxed for a year, but I’m now much more sensitive to foods that I could eat before starting the diet. I just don’t see how I’ll ever be able to eat some of the things I could eat before.
I’m starting work with yet another ND this week, so maybe she’ll have some answers for me.
With 80/10/10 you have to stick with 80/10/10 forever…with the forum diet, it’s not forever. You can start adding things back in slowly when your symptoms have been gone for awhile. It makes sense that if you go back to eating nothing but crap that your body will revolt again and you’ll get sick again, but the idea is to eat health 90% of the time and be able to enjoy treats as treats, not as standards.
Personally, I feel like I’m almost to that point and I’ve only been doing this for a little under 5 months. I don’t think I had a very severe case, just a stubborn one with a lot of leaky gut, but I’m feeling pretty awesome now and I’m hoping in a month or so, I can start testing a couple of new foods. My sensitivities seem to be dying down and my digestion is far from perfect, but is improving quickly.
Honestly, I’ve grown to love this diet! It’s a pain in the ass sometimes, and there are some days I wish I could CHOOSE to not eat on it, but for the most part, it’s great! I feel great, I have learned to cook for myself, my food is GOOD, and my main complaint is that I wish I could eat out sometimes. That’s my main goal – to be able to eat out 2-4 times a month and to be able to choose to eat crap now and then, but basically I plan on sticking with a slightly less strict version of this diet indefinitely. *shrug*
