For what it’s worth, I used to have problems with muscle weakness, plus a couple more of those symptoms. In my case, the muscle weakness was due to Candida. During the first couple weeks of the diet, when my die-off was at its worst, the muscle weakness was also at its worst. I would have to get up out of chairs slowly, and would walk up a hill so slowly you’d think I was 100 years old. I forget how long it took, perhaps 4 weeks or so, but my strength fully returned and I haven’t had any muscle weakness since.
Thanks CS. I thought it was candida as well, but it has gotten worse over time (5 months of strict diet and several months before) and finally the atrophy started. I am now physically loosing muscle tissue so this is why I went back to the MD’s. The irregular heart beat came back as well, I have cirtulation problems and some difficulty breathing (which are all actually symptoms of polymiositis). Also as my back muscles weakened (it starts first closest to the body and then moves away per some online reading I found) I started having back problems as well and pain from pressing nerves. I have few bad discs which are only controlled with proper muscle tone around the back, stomach and upper leg muscles. That’s all gone now.
After a while I realized that all of my candida symptoms are gone, but this was constantly present and not candida, or not directly related to it (not candida symptom or die-off as it is now constantly present no matter what I eat or take in terms of supplements or antifungals). I’ve waited for months thinking it’s die-off, but then realized that it is not going away and it is getting worse day by day. It appears that this disease comes and goes for a while and then as it progresses it is pretty constant. I am now at the point of not being able to walk more than 5 minutes on flat terrain (hills I don’t even try) as my legs don’t feel like they are mine and they give up on me and even blow-drying my hair inflames my muscles and causes strain. I backed off the diet for few days to test if I am not getting enough nutrition, but nothing changed. I am not taking any antifungal supplements so there is nothing to cause die-off and diet alone would not cause a 4 months of die-off for sure. Looks like this was just a coincidence that it was getting worse at the beginning of my treatment and not really directly related with candida.
I am thinking that still getting rid of candida completely might improve this as well as it rebuilds immune system as well. I am sure that I just brought the numbers of candida down and not turned it back into it’s regular yeast form, but first I need to make sure I will not end up in a wheelchair 🙂 From what I read, muscle threads are being lost daily if not receiving treatment. Bad part is that corticosteroids and all the other treatment they mention (besides vitamins) will damage my gut flora again so I will probably be at square one again 🙁
So you see why I am slightly panicky over this? I am hoping to be able to stay in remission with the polymiositis and then slowly treat the candida again. I am still taking probiotics and I’m on stage 2 diet at the moment and plan to remain on it very long time if not forever, but I am pretty sure I did not rebuild my immune system and I am not sure if stage 2 diet is able to do this even in long term. I also stopped all other supplements as I am not sure which ones could be hurting this condition and what exactly to take for polymiositis. Few weeks without vitamins and minerals will not hurt so I figured it’s smarter to wait for test results.
Do they have chiropractors in Bosnia? You’d be amazed what kind of trouble one can get if your back or neck is out of alignment. When nerves get impinged, you can lose some nerve function, and that opens up the door for all kinds of issues. I’m not trying to say that this is your problem, I’m just throwing it out there.
